Attendees at this seminar had the opportunity to assess progress being made in the implementation of the Strategic Framework for Action on Palliative and End of Life Care.
Sessions focused on the commissioning of palliative care services by Health and Social Care Partnerships as well as the next steps for improving public awareness, and fostering a clinical culture of openness around death, dying and bereavement. Delegates also considered ways in which to improve the delivery of personalised care, based on examples of best practice, and the role of wider health and social care professionals in doing so.
The conference brought together policymakers from the Scottish Government and Parliament along with key stakeholders in health and social care who have an interest in these issues - including both generalist and specialist palliative care professionals - as well as local government, academia, and representatives of the trade and national press.
