The seminar examined next steps for improving cancer outcomes and care in Scotland and lessons learnt from the implementation of The Scottish Government’s Beating Cancer strategy, particularly in regards to data.
Delegates also discussed what more might be done to support research into cancer prevention; address workload challenges around cancer referrals, for both primary and secondary care; and improve the rates of early diagnosis.
Further sessions on the day looked at:
- Priorities for improving cancer treatment and care, from both a physical and mental wellbeing perspective;
- Challenges for tackling workforce pressures in social care;
- The impact of genomics research on care management in Scotland; and
- The implementation of the Montgomery Review’s recommendations on widening access to medicines.
