This seminar was an opportunity to discuss priorities for the shaping of Scotland’s energy system following closure of the initial consultation on key issues in the Scottish Government’s draft energy strategy and supporting consultations on Onshore Wind; Scotland’s Energy Efficiency Programme; Local Heat & Energy Efficiency Strategies and District Heating and Unconventional Oil and Gas.
Sessions assessed the future role of renewables - as well as wider low-carbon energies - and considered generation at a local level and opportunities for innovation, taking into account views within the energy sector and the importance of consumer engagement in developing a more modern energy mix.
Delegates also considered the way forward for the decarbonisation of heat and transport, reducing consumption of electricity, heat and energy-intensive transport, and developing a smarter, flexible electricity network.
