Following publication of the independent review into planning in Scotland, and the Government’s response, this seminar provided a timely opportunity to discuss the next steps for planning and infrastructure in Scotland.
Delegates examined the conclusions of the report - which stressed the need for improving the delivery of homes, and the approach taken to infrastructure delivery, development plans and partnership working - as well as the 10 immediate actions outlined in the Government response, relating to guidance on validation of planning applications, shared services, advice on infrastructure planning and performance improvements.
Further sessions assessed the progress being made with major infrastructure projects - including those relating to transport, housing and digital connectivity - as outlined in the Infrastructure Investment Plan 2011 - Updated Programme Pipeline (January 2015). Delegates also had the opportunity to discuss the outlook for the sector following the referendum.
