This seminar took place in the context of the upcoming allocation of Contract for Difference funding, due to be announced in Autumn 2017, and with the Scottish Government’s draft Energy Strategy setting a target of delivering half of Scotland’s heat, transport and electricity needs from renewable energy by 2030, it provided a timely opportunity for policymakers and key stakeholders to discuss key issues for the renewable energy sector.
Delegates discussed priorities for supporting innovation and commercialisation in the move towards a subsidy-free renewables market - assessing opportunities for attracting investment and reducing barriers faced by businesses seeking to develop large-scale renewable energy projects.
Sessions also considered policy priorities for further support for Scotland’s energy network, including the rollout of energy storage and demand side response technologies, as well as the next steps for regulation of the grid and transmission networks.
