This conference followed the completion of the Scottish Government’s governance consultation in January 2017 and the allocation of the £120 million Pupil Equity Funding scheme to schools.
Delegates considered how the education community can contribute to, and prepare for, future plans to transfer powers from local authorities to schools - including decision-making and educational funding - as well as next steps for the expansion of school clusters and the intention to form new educational regions.
The seminar brought together Members of the Scottish Parliament and senior officials from The Scottish Government, regulators and other agencies with representatives from education, early years, childcare, local government, academia, trade unions, parent and campaigning groups, and other interested and affected parties, together with reporters from the national and trade press based in Scotland and elsewhere.
