March 2017

Price: £95 PLUS VAT
Format: DOWNLOADABLE PDF

Delegates at this seminar discussed the challenges and opportunities for international growth and trade in Scotland, particularly within the context of Brexit.
It followed publication of the UK Government’s White Paper on exiting the European Union and the First Minister’s announcement that the Scottish Government will implement a four-point plan aimed at supporting trade and exports.
Discussion on the day considered economic challenges arising from Brexit, potential ways of mitigating them and the importance of internationalisation. Discussion was formed around the hopes and concerns for Higher Education during this time, particularly in regards to future collaboration networks, and steps that industries - such as food and drink - can take now to encourage growth.

Further sessions looked at priorities for local growth, highlighting the importance of leadership and skills, and the need for innovation and collaboration to encourage future investment across a range of sectors.

For this conference delegates were an informed group including Members of the Scottish Parliament, senior government officials involved in this area of public policy, together with representatives from sectors such as: manufacturing, food and drink, academia, finance, legal, digital, transport, business development and support, together with reporters from the national and trade press based in Scotland and elsewhere.
